“Newspapers’ financial woes worsened in the second quarter as advertising sales shrank by 29 percent, leaving publishers with $2.8 billion less revenue than they had at the same time last year” (Editor & Publisher, 2009.)
“Consumer magazine advertising pages were down 12.9 percent during the third quarter…and estimated ad revenue was down, too, slipping 8.8 percent” (Folio, 2008.)
“Newspaper ads fell 9.4%, their worst drop in print advertising sales since industry record- keeping began 57 years ago” (Bloomberg Press, 2008.)
Newspaper and magazine brands are facing a harsh reality: their ad space just isn’t selling. With double-digit losses between 2008-2009 (Which, according to Bloomberg Press, is the worst drop in print advertising sales since industry record-keeping began 57 years ago) across nearly all of the top monthlies’ including Town & Country, National Geographic, Teen Vogue, Ebony and Wired, it’s apparent that there is a shift in the way brands think about advertising. They’re tired of speaking at consumers within the bounds of a 4-inch print box and instead wish to engage in a two-way conversation with the public, hopefully building a long-lasting relationship in the process if done correctly.
To demonstrate this, GoMobile® made a bold statement in this month’s Media Inc. Magazine to accompany an article written about GoMobile’s success in non-traditional and outdoor marketing. The ad reads plain and simple, “Help! I’m Trapped in a Print Ad!” and encourages readers to “take the media world by brainstorm” with us in utilizing experiential and guerrilla marketing to reach consumers in ways they’ve only dreamed possible. The best part of it all is that working smarter, not harder to get the public’s attention usually saves money over traditional advertising.
Mobile billboard trucks are the non-traditional wave of the future. Surfs up!
Contact us and see how easy it is to be a part of what your clients need and want.
I speak to people all the time who ask if they should pre-sell their billboards before the advertising truck is in their possession. Sure! It certainly doesn’t hurt. But keep in mind that not every client will be interested in committing to advertising on a vehicle they have yet to see.
Unless that client has been working with GoMobile headquarters.
What we like to do here in Seattle is promote all of you out there who have joined the GoMobile Network. So, when you purchase from us, you join this great affiliation that is connected to ad agencies big and small across the United States. And sometimes those agencies call us and ask for multi-city campaigns: and lucky you, you might be running your advertising truck in the market of their choice. Before you know it, you’re making money and all you had to do was find a driver.
Can we guarantee this scenario? No. But it can happen. In fact, one of our newest affiliates had the pleasure of purchasing a vehicle in mid-July and straight out of the gate, we put Sprite on his truck for the month of August.
“Launching my business with a national account such as Sprite, is a sweet way to get our business underway,” said R. Tibbetts.
Its just another benefit of joining the network. Contact us today to find out more!
Bill Gates and Paul Allen didn’t wait for the recession to pass before launching a then humble Microsoft in 1975. Economic experts are in agreement: no matter the economy, smart entrepreneurs can find success launching a small business. “The bottom line is anytime is the right time [to launch a venture] if the opportunity is correct and if you as the entrepreneur have correctly assessed and shaped the opportunity,” says Dennis Ceru, business Professor at Boston University and Babson College (US News and World Report, 2008.)
The great news is that at GoMobile we are proving this theory to be true. We are excited to announce that we’ve expanded our national network of affiliated advertising truck operators by seven in the last four months!
It’s true that many businesses launch, backed by a great idea and a dedicated owner, but without any support companies can struggle on their own, especially in today’s business climate. The type of entrepreneurs that are making their way into our national network realize the importance of working with a parent company with the experience of GoMobile. By working together with our network of national affiliates, the opportunities for success are tenfold.
J. Archibald of Louisville, Kentucky puts it best, “In two words: Exceeded Expectations. [GoMobile] helped me get this business started and the support has remained consistent even after I got my footing. The support offered is priceless…There is no way I could have done this as well as I have without the whole GoMobile team.”
There doesn’t seem to be a slowdown for GoMobile in the near future either, with dozens of interested entrepreneur itching to start a mobile billboard business as a GoMobile Network Affiliate. A recent interested entrepreneur said, “I’ve spoken to…many other network members and I simply can’t wait to become your next success story. They all rave about the support you provide.”
We welcomed the following new affiliates to the GoMobile National Affiliate Network: The only national network of mobile scrolling billboard operators in the US: R. Swick of Belpre, OH; J. Archibald Louisville, KY; G. Inglade of Raleigh, NC; B. McClure of Dothan, AL; W. Reynolds of Dallas, TX; W. Tischer of Alexandria, MN; and R. Tibbitts of Panama City, FL.
Durability and dependability are terms that have become synonymous with the GoMobile name, but we think it’s about time another word is added to the mix: sustainability. Our green efforts are not something we parade around, but we like our affiliates, potential affiliates & clients to know what we’re up to on the green front.
Since day one, we’ve offered mobile advertising vehicles that run on BioDiesel fuel. If you’re unfamiliar with the difference between BioDiesel and regular gasoline, take a look at this:
A study done by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that BioDiesel reduced net CO2 emissions by 78%. This is in part due to the fact that the raw materials (plants) used to produce BioDiesel help to recycle the CO2 emissions from the finished product. In addition, the exhaust emissions of sulfur oxides and sulfates (major components of acid rain) from BioDiesel are essentially eliminated compared to traditional diesel. Source.
A staggering fact: Americans throw away over 195 million tons of trash per year. When a campaign is over, we store old billboards in our warehouse to recycle for future campaigns instead of tossing them. In addition, we work with the leader in billboard and banner production, BannerGalaxy and their PriorLife program, which recycles campaign billboards into custom tote bags, wallets and messenger bags. We’re always researching new and innovative ways to continue to operate using sustainable practices and encourage our affiliates to do the same. Stay tuned for more upcoming projects that do just that.
Sorry its been so long since we’ve given you an update!
Between the snow, the holidays and running hard in to the New Year, we’ve been pretty busy. However, we wanted to take the time to let you know that we are still here. Still forging ahead with new ideas, creative campaigns and looking positively in to the future of mobile outdoor advertising.
Check out our latest video on YouTube. Maybe 2009 is your year to join this Revolution!
We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.

Happy New Year from GoMobile Advertising! May 2009 bring you continued happiness and success!
Though cliché, the ‘strength in numbers’ ideology has much to be realized in the mobile advertising truck world. As the GoMobile Advertising Network grows consistently year after year we see that working together has made all the difference in the success of our affiliates.
In a perfect world, everyone who has started a mobile advertising truck business with us would be hitting homerun after homerun; and many are. However, mobile advertising trucks are still an ‘out there’ concept for many businesses and advertising agencies. This is the very reason that the GoMobile Advertising Network is a life-saver: We’ve been there, done that and continue to dive headfirst into the unknown so you don’t have to.
Training, business tools and templates, photos from campaigns all over the country, conference calls, newsletters and unbeatable customer service combine with new people, the sharing of new ideas, new technology and a ‘sky is the limit’ mentality to make up this nationally recognized team. We’ve spent the money on Bluetooth research and we’ll tell you our findings. We’re spending the time now on LED truck research. We know how to run national campaigns over and over again. We’ve run a mile so you can start this business with the confidence and assurance that you have expertise to back you up.
Join the only Mobile Advertising Truck Network in the nation and begin this business with the strength of the numbers who have gone before you.
There’s little I hate more than finding out I made the same stupid mistake as someone else doing the same thing I am. But someone has to go first; someone has to play the fool initially so the rest of us can learn from their wisdom. This is what we like to call the ‘stupid tax’. It’s a common phrase passed around our office posing as a reminder that none of us would repeat the same stupid mistakes as the person in the cubicle next to us.
Whether it be life or business lessons, the stupid tax is relative to anyone trying to figure out what to do next.
We started this business taking a big risk…traveling the road untraveled. What procedures should a driver go through before they get in to one of these trucks, but more than that, what type of driver should I have? A teenager? Should I recruit current truck drivers? How long can one person drive without crashing our truck?
Or what about pitching this cutting edge advertising medium to ad agencies who may think we’re crazy… what do we say? How do we present? Okay… how do we even get our foot in the door, let alone get connected to the right guy.
Stupid Tax, stupid tax, stupid tax… we walked the line of ignorance so you don’t have to.
For the second year in a row, the GoMobile Network was graced with the privilege of having Nancy Juetten provide a wealth of knowledge and publicity know-how to our National affiliate group. It’s true that, without a doubt, each of us can and will use her invaluable and effective tools to grow our business nationwide.
“Nancy provided real life examples and a simple way to use blogging and technology to promote my business. Fantastic presentation!”
Bernie Montoya – Bay Area Mobile Media
Nancy’s presentation was full of straightforward information that was easy to understand and simple to implement. Her Media-Savvy-To-Go Publicity Kit was also a real winner with our group, allowing the opportunity to execute her tips of the trade back at the office or on the go. We are excited to apply her media-savvy methods to gain us better coverage from our media contacts.
Thanks again, Nancy for your informative and entertaining presentation!
What do we base purchase decisions on? Personal preference, family consideration, compulsive thought, good deal…
We live in a world where the choices are endless and the task of choosing is more complicated than ever. We are forced to take the time to consider all the options and take the time to do our due diligence. Here at the office, we can understand that. When choosing a mobile advertising truck we flew all over the country looking at a variety of options: Trivisions, Chinese built options, and trucks that almost hit the mark but when looking at the details were deceptive in their build.
We nearly settled for what we thought was the best we could find, but in the 11th hour found Motionadz which had it all: experience, reputation, excellence, passion and a desire to work for the customer.
We almost ended up in the same situation we see so many other advertising truck owners: looking back at their decision full of regret. I can’t tell you how often we have miserable advertising truck owners call us. Nearly every week we have someone who has regretted their buying decision in purchasing from a competitor and then coming to us, hoping they can still join the network or have their vehicle retrofitted with our scrolling system? Why?
Well, there are a number of reasons, but the number one is that what these customers are being told is not actually true. So whether you’re speaking with us or speaking with one of our competitors, call references. And don’t just call one or two, call several. Ask them if the company does what it says.
Hindsight is always 20/20. Doing your research now and choosing the best the first time can give you the confidence you need to start (and keep doing) business. Come join the GoMobile Advertising Network: it really is better over here.
